About us

Our vision is a world where the most vulnerable and disadvantaged communities are equipped with the key facts that can give them more control over their own health, and protect them from threats to their health and lives.

We create interactive audio-visual lessons about some of the world's biggest health and life threats, which are then recorded in local languages. We distribute the lessons online and on DVD so that all communities can access the information, whatever their level of education.

Christmas fundraiser 2021

Event dates: Monday 29th November 2021 – Friday 7th January 2022

The festive season is a great time to reflect on what we’ve achieved over the last 12 months, and making a difference is something to celebrate. 2021 has been a big year for Education Saves Lives, but we want to make 2022 even better.

The pandemic has reached every corner of the world, having a huge impact on millions of lives. Yet for most of the world’s population, it’s just one more challenge, on top of many faced every day.

With resources diverted to tackle COVID-19, serious illness and deaths from malaria, TB, heart disease, diabetes, diarrhoeal disease, and more are all likely to have increased. Meanwhile, the impact of paused immunisation programmes will be felt for years to come.

So it’s no coincidence that Education Saves Lives has sent out more health education video lessons in 2021 than ever before. By mid-November, we’d sent over 16,000 DVDs to partners all around the world, reaching 3.2 million people.

Those lessons help families:
• learn how to avoid malaria
• make informed decisions about vaccination
• understand why cigarettes and alcohol can be addictive
• know what to do if someone’s blood pressure is too high
• and much more!

All this information is crucial in countries where families simply cannot afford to get sick, because medical care can be costly – if it’s available at all.

But we want to do more.

Your donations have helped us update our recent lesson about COVID-19, start improving all our existing lessons, and crucially, provide more resources than ever before to vulnerable communities.

In 2022, we want to send out more DVDs, but that’s not all we’re planning. We also hope to scale up the use of new flash drive lessons that can help reach new groups, and we want to invest in large-scale distribution of all our materials, working with new partners in key areas.

Here’s the difference your donation makes:
£70 provides five packs of Growing Up Well lessons, to support children as they get older.
£35 provides a pack of dedicated health lessons to a community group.
£22 provides an HIV pack that helps people take control of their health.
£10 provides multiple copies of our lesson about human trafficking, for at-risk communities.
£5 provides families with information to make an informed choice about immunisation for childhood diseases.

None of what we do would be possible without the generous help of our supporters and friends – old and new. This Christmas, we’re celebrating all that we’ve achieved together, but there’s still a long way to go, and giving a gift really can save a life.

Thank you!

Our updates

Thank you to everyone who has donated so far!
This week, as the World Health Organisation reports on increasing Malaria cases, with the need for lessons continuing to grow, we've published our updated "Malaria" lesson. Your support will help us get this lesson to more families in the coming year.
