About us

Cumbria Addictions: Advice and Solutions (CADAS) is a countywide charity offering support and guidance for all ages surrounding substance use and addictive behaviour. CADAS also provides therapeutic interventions to people with problematic dependencies, alongside supporting their families, carers and friends.
We work in partnership with a variety of other services (e.g. mental health and homelessness charities, statutory children services and local employers) to create packages of support for people that leads to more sustainable change.
Whilst we do work with people in recovery, a key part of our mission is to deliver preventative services. We deliver educational workshops in schools and youth clubs, to those working in the health and social care sector and to employers as part of our awareness raising remit.
As we work to reduce harmful addiction, we support members of the Cumbrian community across a range of problematic dependencies, from gambling to alcohol, social media to drugs and smoking to video gaming.

Watch the sun rise up on this fabulous Trek up England's 2nd highest mountain Helvellyn, 950m. Setting off from Swirls car park, Thirlmere, we head up past Brown Cove Crag to our first peak, Lower Man (925m, 3034ft). A short distance further we come to our target, Helvellyn summit! We get to watch the sun come up over the horizon from Ullswater (subject to weather of course!)

We also get to look down over Swirral Edge and Striding Edge - without having to actually climb them! We then continue along the Helvellyn range towards out final peak, Nethermost Pike, whilst continuing to enjoy the sun rise. From here we head down towards Wythburn, followed by a forest walk back towards the finish at Swirls car park where we have our presentation.
