About us

The Triangle is London's oldest on site adventure playground. Open since 1957 we provide free adventure play to young people aged 6 - 17 years old. Our aim is to improve young people's physical, mental and emotional wellbeing through creative and free play. Generations of Lambeth families have played at Triangle and we currently have over 450 active users of the playground. Throughout the holidays we arrange hot cooked meals alongside the wide range of play and non formal learning activities. We help young people build independence, resourcefulness and self confidence, offering long term support for all from childhood to becoming young adults.

New Zipline for Triangle!

The Triangle needs to buy a new zip line for the hundreds of young people who attend Triangle to play upon and benefit from. Last year 376 young people made a total of 8603 visits, of whom 15% have Special Educational Needs and 60% declare Free School Meals, rising to 75% in school holidays. Averaging 50 young people a day we are on course for more than 400 users this year.

Our current zip line, installed in 2007, has been repaired multiple times in recent years and once poor weather returns it will be closed off permanently.

The Triangle kids have long requested a new and more exciting zip line. We have received an estimate from the London Play Design team who are play structure specialists with the requisite experience, qualifications and safety knowledge to lead the build. The new zip line structure will include a higher platform with more access points than before, wood chip will ensure safe landings, it will last at least 10 - 15 years and will be c. 20m long.

A new zip line will greatly improve our playground and play service. More than 400 young people each year will benefit through the physical and creative play opportunities a zip line provides. A young person will develop their confidence and decision making as well as gaining a sense of achievement. Build friendships and teamwork sharing and helping with others. The zip line will also help to improve and maintain physical health, with the ripple effect of improved mental health due to fun exercise.

Creative thinking and problem solving is also developed by the young people who enjoy utilising the zip line with other playground objects such as ropes and trolleys to build flying trolleys and more. The structure will also incorporate some safe play space underneath the structural frame for different play activities such as den building and hide and seek, enhancing the value and usage.

The total cost of the new zip line and structure will be £21,000.

We have committed some of our reserves and now seek the remaining £10,000 from our community of supporters. Please spread the word to your family and friends, it is not every day you can make a tangible and impactful donation to the lives of so many young Londoners, THANK YOU!
