Stockholm Marathon

On Saturday June 4th one of our greatest supporters, Panos Karan, will be running in the Stockholm Marathon and raising funds for young people's education in Ecuador.

Why do people put themselves through the pain of running 26.2 miles? Panos's answer - "Perhaps overcoming challenges is part of our human nature, a need even to prove to ourselves that we are worthy of being alive. Perhaps "going the extra mile", overcoming an obstacle, or 26 of them in a marathon race, gives us strength to do the same in everyday life as well."

Overcoming challenges is certainly something the young people we support in Ecuador understand very well. Although they all come from very low income families, they are dedicated to continuing their education and helping their families break out of the cycle of poverty they were born into.
