Description:
We have purchased a building in South Shields that is being converted into a residence for formerly homeless people who will work in a sustainable business in the local area.
KEY FACTS ABOUT OUR PROJECT
Our plans will bring a formerly derelict building that had become a major eyesore back into use.
We will provide a accommodation for up to 15 formerly homeless people ready to make a fresh start.
As well as a home, we will provide work, education and training to help them to gain employment in the future.
Our residents will work in a social enterprise based in South Shields Town Centre recycling furniture and household goods.
The goods will be sold via a retail shop that will be part of the social enterprise, and also at our existing shop in Low Fell.
We have the support of South Tyneside Council and are working in partnership with them and other local agencies.
We hope to complete the residence and have our social enterprise and new retail shop open by the summer.
Our community would provide up to four new jobs and inject over £200,000 into the local community each year.
