Description:
Refugee Rights Europe (RRE) is an advocacy organisation defending the human rights and dignity of refugees and displaced people in Europe. Entirely independent of any political, religious or other affiliations, our mission is to call on those who are in positions of power, to bring about much-needed change and to uphold their national and international obligations.
At Refugee Rights Europe, we believe that the European Union, its member states and the UK are capable of ensuring a response to asylum and migration which upholds the human rights of every person seeking protection in Europe. In doing so, states could save human, material and financial resources that tend to go to waste when asylum in handled in an inhumane and inconsistent manner.
Within the current context of an increasingly narrow space for civil society to uphold the human rights and dignity of individuals seeking protection in Europe, our organisation plays an important role in re-orienting the European policy debate, by anchoring our policy recommendations in research and evidence, and by unequivocally referring to universally accepted human rights, international law and the European Union?s commitments to fundamental rights for all.
Through our desk and field research, we translate grassroots expertise and refugees? own voices into coherent policy recommendations and impactful advocacy work which reaches the highest policy levels, nationally, among the EU institutions, and at the United Nations. As such, we act as a bridge between people working on the frontlines and policy makers who can afford long-term change.
Aware that civil society is stronger when working together, close collaboration with grassroots groups across Europe has been key to our modus operandi from the outset. We seek to act as a strategic compass and a galvanising force within the sector, as we work together to hold EU institutions and governments to account.
