1921 Cycling Challenge

Richard Aikens is raising money for IntoUniversity, The Sutton Trust, Advocate and The Access To Justice Foundation

My story

2021 is the centenary of Brick Court Chambers. To celebrate, we are aiming to raise £250,000 (plus gift aid) to share between four charities, two which work to improve social mobility nationwide; IntoUniversity and The Sutton Trust (40% each), and two which seek to increase access to justice; Advocate and the Access to Justice Foundation (10% each).

To support these efforts, I have undertaken to cycle a total of at least 1,921 miles in total by the end of 2021. So far (up to 14 December) I have cycled 1,903 miles. So only 18 miles to go in two weeks! I did not do the London Legal Walk, but did a London Legal Cycle instead. I cycled all three of the walking routes (with suitable alterations), so doing about 30 km in all. I also did the "Halloween Walk" as a cycle ride, completing the "marathon" version of 27 miles. I am doing regular "detours" on my commute to chambers (eg up to Hampstead Heath) to push up the mileage. I shall keep updating the distance done.

I do hope you can give your support to help me hit my target of £1,921 for the four charities; it is only one pound per mile of cycling effort.

Thank you, Richard
