Dave Treagus is raising money for 2nd Beeston Sea Scouts
Thanks for spending the time to view our new fundraising page.
Building on the success of the Sponsored 10K Canoe paddling event last year, 2nd Beeston Sea Scouts has decided to do it all over again.
Beavers, age 6 - 8 Cubs, 8 - 10 Scouts 10 - 14, Explorers 14 - 18, former members, friends and supporters of the group are planning to either walk the tow path, row a boat as a crew or paddle a canoe from the stone bridge on the canal side (NG9 1NG) in Beeston Rylands to the Nottingham Evening Post Building (NG2 1AA) and back again. The Explorers and Scouts will be supporting the younger group members to complete this exciting challenge.
The event will start at 10.00 with a safety brief and issuing of kit.
We hope to arrive at Curry?s (NG7 1GX) Castle Marina at 12.30 for a hotdog or burger and a drink. This is about half way.
We will do periodic stops for refreshment but that will depend on the group dynamics on the day. The Refreshments and food for the day will be included in the £5 per head (Family Unlimited Ticket of £15) entry fee.
The event will finish at Beeston Marina at 4pm where we hope to celebrate with parents and supporters.
The aim of the day is to raise enough funds to purchase equipment for each section.
The Beavers would like two canoes, the Cubs would like Archery equipment, and the Scouts would like some small kayaks and the Explorers some raft building equipment. All of the equipment will be used by all the sections and we hope to arrange a supporter?s day where people who have helped us raise the funds can come and use the new equipment at the island. The total cost of all of the equipment it about £4000 so I have aimed for £2500 in the hope that we can either get match funding or we surpass the target. For every £10 donated we will receive £11.94 with the gift aid. This will be through the every click page to be circulated.
