My story
In September 2022, I will be running the Great North Run to raise money for Northumbria blood Bikes. I have set a target of
raising at least £200 to support the vital work of Northumbria blood Bikes work.
Northumbria Blood Bikes (NBB) is a registered charity established in September 2012.
The charity is run solely by unpaid local volunteers. They deliver essential blood and other urgent medical supplies out of
hours between hospitals and healthcare sites in North East England. This service is provided free of charge to the NHS so they
can put the money saved back into front line patient care.
The service is provided to all major hospitals across the North East including Newcastle, North Tyneside, Northumberland,
Gateshead, South Tyneside, Durham and Darlington.
The volunteers are all people like you and me, who give up their time to help make a difference to the lives of others. The
money I am raising will help fuel and maintain the vehicles so the volunteers can help save lives.
In 2020 NBB delivered over 13,000 packages free of charge to the NHS and the Great North Air Ambulance. That puts our
total number of deliveries to over 70 thousand.
