Awune's 50k for South London Cares

Hello everyone! Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!

As many of you may know, physical exercise is not my favourite pastime but I have decided to take on this challenge because it is such a worthy cause. On Saturday 12th September 2015, I am walking 50 KILOMETERS which is 31 MILES to raise some money for South London Cares (SLC).

Growing up, I had a great relationship with my grandma. She shared her amazing experiences and advice with me. These are memories I will treasure forever and I know that she did. This is my motivation for choosing SLC.

It is a community network mobilising young professionals to volunteer to support their older neighbours by spending time with the, providing practical support and companionship with the aim of tackling loneliness. South London has social extremes of some of the best connected people in Britain and some of the most isolated, sometimes existing as neighbours with very little interaction. The money raised wil be used to fund activities to give young professionals and their older neighbours the opportunity to have the experience that I shared with my grandma. SOme of these activities include games nights, flim nights, dinner parties and cooking/baking club.

The walk should take 9-14 hours which sounds intimidating but I am definitely up for the challenge.
