Sridhar Rana Rinpoche Education Fund (SRREF)

Event date: 6th July 2013

Byoma Kusuma Buddhadharma Sangha BKBDS-UK is raising money for Byoma Kusuma Buddhadharma Sangha

My story

Dear All

We (Shraddha Tandan, Thaison Tong, Sushmita Mishra, Ranju Thapa, Bhumi Gautam, Sabindra Gauram, and Jagan Khadka) are climbing Britain's highest peak 'Ben Nevis' (1,344 metres) on Saturday 6th July to raise funds to support the The Sridhar Rana Rinpoche Education Fund (SRREF).

SRREF is a special project that offers financial support to individuals who want to pursue higher education in Buddhism or related field/subjects such as humanities or science [e.g., languages, therapeutic studies, meditation effects on physiology and psychology, art related to Buddhist paradigm]. To read more, please visit: byomakusuma.org/About/EducationFund.aspx

There is a very big need as we receive more applications requesting funding each year, especially from individuals from low income background. Your generous contribution, small or big, will be invaluable to those seeking funds.

This fund is available to all nationals who wish to pursue higher studies at institutions in selected regions in Asia.

It will also partially support printing, publishing and distribution (Dharma Daana Fund) of Buddhist texts in Nepal.

Here's a testimonial from one of the recent scholarship recipient:

' I feel very fortunate to have been chosen as a recipient of this scholarship. I appreciate your confidence in me and your continued willingness to contribute to my education. This scholarship will help reduce my financial burdens and provide assistance for me as I continue pursuing my education.' - Venerable Ashin Sumanacara

(Awarded £400 in 2012 and 2013 to pursue PhD at Mahidol University, Thailand)

Other recipients are: In 2013 Dilokananda Sraman was awarded £600 to pursue PhD at Mahidol University, Thailand.

In 2011 Ishwor CVS Shrestha was awarded £250 to support his tuition fees at the Ranjung Yeshe Institute of Buddhist Studies, Kathmandu, Nepal.
