Caroline Underwood is raising money for West Wight Sports & Community Centre
On 27 July I will be swimming from the mainland to the Isle of Wight. This has been on my bucket list for many years and I?m really excited to have finally managed to secure one of the very limited places in this annual event. On 15 June I completed a 2.5km qualification swim so I?m in - better start training! I?m fundraising for West Wight Sports & Community Centre and hoping to raise at least £250. WWSCC is more than just a swimming pool - it is a community hub, providing a range of facilities and services focusing on health, fitness, personal growth and development and supporting both physical and mental health and well-being.
As a charity, WWSCC rely on ad hoc grants and fundraising events such as the Solent Swim to support the work and ensure the Centre can continue to operate.
They face a huge financial challenge each year in order to be able to maintain services to the community, and need to raise around £150,000 a year to fill the gap in funding. The Solent Swim is the main fundraising event for the Centre and since the first event in 2010, around 350 people have swum the Solent and raised over £190,000 for the charity.
Thank you for checking out my page. Making a donation is fast, easy and secure thanks to Give as you Live Donate. They'll take your donation and pass it onto West Wight Sports & Community Centre.
