Charity Skydive May (now July) 2022

Event date: 3rd July 2022

Chris Outlaw is raising money for InFocus - the vision impairment & complex needs charity and Arc (Axminster) Ltd

My story

On May 1st I'll be doing a charity skydive from 15,000ft for two amazing charities. Keep reading to find out why.

I've been aware of InFocus charity for a while but until recently I hadn't fully understood the extent of the work they do to support children and young adults with complex needs and visual impairment. Which often leads to them facing barriers to learning, living, and taking an active, independent place in society.

Through a business networking event, I had the chance to meet Laurence who represents the charity at our meetings I was immediately struck by the work he and Infocus do and the passion they have to help provide the specialist expertise, equipment and adapted facilities to inspire, challenge and empower these young people from across the UK to live their best lives. I felt like I wanted to help in some way if I could.

I am also a trustee on the board for arc Axminster a local charity that provides specialised counselling helping people to overcome grief, bereavement, loss and trauma. I have also been a service user at arc losing my dad at 16 from Motor Neurone Disease where I had to watch his decline over a 5 year period with this prolonged state of grief and the subsequent events after his passing leading to having PTSD undiagnosed for many years. It was only through counselling with arc that I have managed to deal with the trauma surrounding the event. So I understand first hand the important role the charity plays in the local community.

Being able to celebrate, honour, raise awareness and money for these two amazing charities that are doing great things that impact the lives of the people they touch is something I felt the need to do.

My goal is to raise at least £500 for each charity to help support what they do. Any donation would be greatly received and highly appreciated and you would be making a difference not only to the charities themselves but to the individuals who rely on these charities for support.

Thank you for checking out my page. Making a donation is fast, easy and secure thanks to Give as you Live Donate. They'll take your donation and pass it onto InFocus - the vision impairment & complex needs charity and Arc (Axminster) Ltd.
