Clare's zip wire adventure across the Manchester Ship Canal!

On July 16th, I will be leaping from the top of the Imperial War Museum in Salford Quays, 30m off the ground, and whizzing across the Manchester Ship Canal 250m to the other side... eeeeek!

Now, I'm rather terrified of this, but thankfully I will be raising money for FareShare, an amazing charity that makes a massive difference to people's lives in the North West through doing 2 great things at the same time.

1 - They take quality surplus food from suppliers that would otherwise be going to waste (e.g. food that's on its sell by date), reducing the millions of tonnes of food waste that's sent to landfill every year.

2 - They then support thousands of people suffering from food poverty; those who will truly benefit from this nutritious food, by supplying the food to groups and charities on a massive scale - in 2009 they gave over 7.4million meals across the UK!

58% of FareShare recipients went for a day or more without a square meal in the last year - they have a massive impact on these people's lives, right here in Manchester, and they can only keep operating with donations to keep the warehouses operating.
