Deborah Evans is raising money for Ponthafren Association
I was convinced to register for the Cardiff half marathon whilst enjoying a small sherry on a sunny evening in July.
Anyone that knows me knows that I love nothing more than sitting in my ass groove watching Judge Judy. This has been partially abandoned over the last few months and I have wobbled said ass through the streets of Newtown. The last time I ran this far I was wearing those minging blue high school shorts they made us wear for cross country in 1991 (seriously, we may as well have just run in our pants).
Anyway....
I am running to raise funds for Ponthafren. This is a fantastic charity that provides support to so many people in diverse and creative ways and all in the name of promoting positive mental health and wellbeing. It's a charity that is very close to my heart.
Places like Ponthafren don't just need funding. They rely heavily on volunteers, and so if you have any time to dedicate to them or any of the other amazing charities that support people in our local area, then I would encourage you to do so. Volunteering can be a a really positive experience, not only for people that are being supported, but also by volunteers themselves. The Ponthafren website is here: ponthafren.org.uk/
And other volunteering opportunities locally can be found here: pavo.org.uk/
