Ditching the car for Waste Warriors
Event dates: 1st November 2021 – 30th November 2021
Nem & the fam is raising money for CLEAR Community
My story
This month, my family and I are ditching the car and walking or cycling where possible in order to raise money for CLEAR Community in support of their Waste Warriors program, supporting villagers in rural Indonesia to stop plastic pollution to rivers and oceans.
As a family of four living in the countryside, it's all too easy to just jump in the car to run our errands. The nearest town is just ten minutes by car, but 35 minutes on a bike, as the fast road isn't safe with small children and no pavement and we have to go cross country.
With the climate emergency as it is, this is the perfect opportunity to motivate ourselves to minimise our impact, whilst at the same time raising money for the amazing work that CLEAR does.
CLEAR's mentor program enables local people to deliver vital waste management and recycling initiatives in towns and villages of West Java. For more information visit clearcommunity.com.
Thank you for checking out my page. Making a donation is fast, easy and secure thanks to Give as you Live Donate. They'll take your donation and pass it onto CLEAR Community.

Walk up glory hill and around Dorking and then forgot to turn off tracking before getting in the car!
Saw a squirrel fight, resulting in a squirrel falling out of a tree and sitting stunned, scared and obviously hurt for some time.

Walk to shop in the sunny wind
Short walk with the family on the trail end of a cold so nobody feeling particularly energetic. Just popped to the shops to get bits for lunch and looped back round.
Turned off the tracking when Jago hurt Orson's chin (Jago had asked O to throw him holding the umbrella to see if he would float down but J jumped up and... Whack!) so I missed a bit, but I think we went at a fair pace.

Ride home from the shops
Came home in the fading light after a 2 hour trek around the shops. Kids were stalwart, cycled safely until the last stretch when Jago got distracted by a flock of geese as we crossed the weir and rode his bike into the railings. Ouch!
