Amputee Football World Cup 2022

Hi all!

I’m the Senior Physiotherapist for the England National Amputee Football team. Later this year, the squad hope to compete at the Amputee Football World Cup in Instanbul, Turkey. The organisation for the England national team is charity funded, so in order to ensure all players, staff and equipment, travel, flights and expensive specialist equipment can be provided to hopefully succeed in lifting the trophy, all of us staff and players are aiming to fundraise as much as we can to help support the charity.

Disability sport is often an under funded area within sport, yet the programme that has been established for these players to play in an elite environment, and live their lives like elite sports people, has been constructed through many hours of staff going above and beyond, often around other jobs and commitments, the players regularly funding their own travel to camps, tournaments and having to juggle full time jobs, with their training schedules, and families.

I’m simply aiming to support these lads to give them the best possible chance of having an amazing experience and opportunity to take part in the World Cup.

If anybody can spare even the price of one coffee, every pound and penny will be extremely gratefully received!
