Our story
Kathryn, Lesley and Melanie have enrolled with https://endtoend.run/ to complete this challenge. With your support and sponsorship donations we will raise much needed funds for First Person Plural - dissociative identity disorder association. Our challenge is to run and/or walk, mostly in our own local areas (and in Kathryn's case - mostly at home on a treadmill) to complete a distance of 874 miles each, (i.e. the length of the UK mainland from Lands End to John O'Groats), over a period of up to 1 year. This will be no small feat for us as none of us have attempted this kind of challenge before, but we are determined. During the COVID-19 crisis First Person Plural has already lost a significant portion of our regular income because we have been unable to do face to face training. Being both a micro-charity and national makes it difficult for us to access external funding which is largely geared towards either small charities providing services in a defined local area or large national charities. The money we raise by taking up this challenge will help ensure FPP is able to continue its work. This includes facilitating mutual support for adult survivors of childhood abuse who live with complex trauma-related dissociative conditions, such as dissociative identity disorder; and providing information, training and experts-by-experience collaboration to improve acceptance, recognition, diagnosis and access to effective treatments for this group of people.
