Lands End to John O'Groats Virtual Run/Walk

Event dates: 17th August 2020 – 16th August 2021

Kathryn Livingston - Lesley Thomas - Melanie Goodwin are raising money for First Person Plural

Our story

Kathryn, Lesley and Melanie have enrolled with endtoend.run/ to complete this challenge. With your support and sponsorship donations we will raise much needed funds for First Person Plural - dissociative identity disorder association. Our challenge is to run and/or walk, mostly in our own local areas (and in Kathryn's case - mostly at home on a treadmill) to complete a distance of 874 miles each, (i.e. the length of the UK mainland from Lands End to John O'Groats), over a period of up to 1 year. This will be no small feat for us as none of us have attempted this kind of challenge before, but we are determined. During the COVID-19 crisis First Person Plural has already lost a significant portion of our regular income because we have been unable to do face to face training. Being both a micro-charity and national makes it difficult for us to access external funding which is largely geared towards either small charities providing services in a defined local area or large national charities. The money we raise by taking up this challenge will help ensure FPP is able to continue its work. This includes facilitating mutual support for adult survivors of childhood abuse who live with complex trauma-related dissociative conditions, such as dissociative identity disorder; and providing information, training and experts-by-experience collaboration to improve acceptance, recognition, diagnosis and access to effective treatments for this group of people.

Thank you for checking out our page. Making a donation is fast, easy and secure thanks to Give as you Live Donate. They'll take your donation and pass it onto First Person Plural.

And all three of us have now reached virtual John O'Groats. Yayyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!! Kathryn passed the finish line on Monday as she planned. Lesley and Melanie both got there in March. So, that's a total of 2,622 (3 x 874) miles walked. We and all of you donating and cheering us on have done great! Thank you.

Hi all supporters and donors. Kathryn is now less than 2.5 miles from virtual John O'Groats. She is saving her final couple of miles so she finishes on her birthday which is on Monday, 7th June. We are so close to our fundraising target so if there is anyone reading who hasn't yet donated or wants to top up their original donation to mark all three of us finishing the challenge please do so. Thank you to all who have supported and donated so far. We most definitely couldn't have achieved this challenge without you.

Great news! Kathryn is now down to double figures with just 90 miles to go!!! Your support and encouragement is spurring me on. Even better news is that we have reached over 75% of our fundrasing target. Be great if we could make it 100% Please donate if you haven't already. Thank you to all supporters and donors.

Hurrah - two of us have now completed the challenge. Melanie and I (Lesley) have now reached virtual John O'Groats having set out mid August 2020. It's been a welcome challenge and has certainly helped me through the winter months - encouraging daily exercise. Kathryn has just over 200 miles to go and we are cheering her on from the side lines. Keep going Kathryn! Please continue to give her your support and thank you so much to all those who have donated and sent messages of support so far.
