Harry Needs Help

Cheadle Animal Welfare are raising money for Cheadle and District Animal Welfare Society

Our story

Harry, a lovely black Tom cat, was handed over when his owner was no longer able to care for him. His first port of call was Lime Trees Cat Clinic, Cheadle, Stoke-on-Trent where it was thought all he needed was a routine check up and to start his vaccinations. However it soon became apparent that Harry had problems which needed immediate attention. There was a problem with one of his eyes. He couldn’t open it. Upon closer examination he was found to have Entropion, a condition where the eye lashes are rolled inwards, so every time Harry blinked his upper and lower lashes were scraping across his eye. Ouch. That must have been so uncomfortable, but that was not all. The vet then found a hole in the armpit of one of his legs and to top it all Harry was unneutered. Prompt action was required to ease Harry’s suffering.
The following day Harry had a general anaesthetic and had 3 procedures
The entropion was corrected and needed 20 stitches to hold the lashes away from his eye
All the dead tissue had to be removed from around and inside the wound on his leg and then the elbow fold had to be reconstructed. A tricky procedure. This required 30 stitches and a great deal of expertise on the part of vet Jodie and her team
Harry was then castrated.
Harry is recovering well and he has vet Jodie and her team to thank for making his life much more comfortable. Without those procedures being carried out his life would have been unbearable
Prior to coming into the care of Cheadle & District Animal Welfare Society Harry must have endured a great deal of discomfort and pain, but we are hopeful that after a period of time with cage rest, he will make a good recovery and go on to lead a long and happy life.
We are hoping that like us, you will want to help Harry. If you are able to make a donation, no matter how small, to help cover the cost of his operation, we and Harry would be most grateful
