My story

To Georgia and back!

Event dates: Friday 13th November–Friday 11th December

15 players – 8,208km – 4 weeks - 2,052 per week – to raise £5,000

On Friday 13th November fifteen visually impaired (VI) rugby players will be taking on the challenge of cycling, running, walking and rowing from Twickenham to Georgia, a combined total of 8,208km in four weeks, to raise money for the development of VI rugby.

The players, who come from across the UK, will set off ‘virtually’ from the home of rugby Twickenham Stadium, racking up an average of 20km a day through their chosen discipline, aiming to reach Georgia’s national Stadium Mikheil Meskhi, by close of play Friday 11th of December.

Why Georgia you ask?

Friday 13th will be the start of the Autumn National Cup, where the UK and Ireland welcome Georgia and Fiji. What better way would it be to welcome Georgia to the National cup than to virtually challenge to their national stadium and back.

Not being able to play or attend training sessions, 15 VI players decided to take this challenge on. 8,208km within four weeks. This would lead them up to their first training session since March.

So, please help support these fifteen players raise money to set up more clubs and give visually impaired children and adults across the UK the chance to play the great sport of rugby.

If you would like any further information about the challenge or about visually impaired rugby then please get in touch with Alex Bassan at The Change Foundation by emailing him on alexbassan@changefdn.org.uk
