Running for Zachs Helping Hand

Event date: 19th October 2014

Jennie Thompstone is raising money for Zach's Helping Hand

My story

Hi! As many of my friends & family will know, up until January 2014 I hadn't run anywhere! I join the fantastic ladies at SheCan Run in Kettering and set myself the target of running 5km. This successfully achieved in March I moved my goal posts to 10km. Now somehow I find myself with the massive challenge ahead of completing the Bupa Birmingham half marathon on the 19th October 2014!!!!
I have decided to try and raise some much needed money for an extremely worthwhile charity - Zachs Helping Hand. Zachs Helping Hands was set up in memory of a little boy called Zach who suffered from medullablastoma (a form of brain tumour) and died at home surrounded by his family with the support of the community childrens nurses. As well as providing the community childrens nursing service with money for equipment to allow parents to care for their children at home. The charity also provide a respite caravan sited at Butlins in Skegness free of charge for families of children with life limiting illness, to use anytime. Giving them a break from visitors, hospital routines and treatments. With the devastating news that there is no hope for their child the family receive a weekly hamper with daily essentials and age related gifts not just for the child but also siblings to show they haven't been forgotten. As well as a much needed break, many happy memories are made which the families will cherish forever.
I would be so grateful if you could sponsor me and help this fantastic charity. Thank you.
