Joshua Scotton - Ride London 100

Event date: 31st July 2016

Josh Scotton is raising money for WASOT-UK INTERNATIONAL

My story

Please support me in raising money for WASOT-UK. This year, in addition to important projects, we are directly sponsoring a number of children who desperately need support to help them through education. They are all talented individuals although come from difficult backgrounds and unless they receive funding their education will stop.

I am raising sponsorship for Mervin Otieno Ochieng.
Mervin comes from the Ligega village in Siaya District, Kenya. He is a very unique young man who has a huge amount of self-determination and has succeed despite the odds against him.

He is now 21 years old and is a total orphan. After losing both his parents in the year 2000 and 2001 respectively, he was placed with his step mother who subjected him to a lot of cruelty and child labour. He was then removed from her and taken to live in a children's home. The home was closed down and he was then sent to live with his uncle until he got admission into Secondary School. With the support of the OGRA Foundation he passed his KCSE exams and was admitted at Laikipia University.

He states "Education is important to me simply because through education one can fight problems in life and through learning I can also encourage others to work hard and develop the society" Mervin is an encouragement to many orphans. He is currently studying computer science.
