SAWW - Posh Bric-A-Brac

Just Imagine.......

• Your child is knocked down by a car and needs emergency surgery - but there is no anaesthesia.

• Only a caesarean section can save the life of your baby - but there is no anaesthesia.

• A painful tumour threatens your life and you need surgical treatment - but there is no anaesthesia.

SAWW provide life saving anaesthetic and oxygen generating equipment to poor countries where sometimes even electricity is not readily available. In some countries as many as one in eleven women will die in childbirth because they cannot have a life saving caesarean section as there is no anaesthetic.

Sometimes a straight forward but life saving operation cannot be performed without access to anaesthetic.

Trained anaesthetists are scarce at best but SAWW provide training to anaesthetists in the countries where it is most needed.

I was so moved when I heard of the suffering in these poorer countries which in the western world is difficult to imagine, I felt I had to do something to help. I am holding a 'posh' Bric-A-Brac stall on the Market Square in Hitchin on Saturday 24th August. Come along and grab yourself a bargain, or if you can't make it on the day, please make a donation for this very worthwhile charity - what ever you can afford be it great or small will help to make a difference and to save the lives of infants, mothers and many other people in need of life saving surgery.
