Karen’s 5km challenge for 25th Anniversary

Everything is on hold at the moment, seeing family, meeting up with friends, going out to socialise and our working life. The month of May was supposed to be a whole month of celebrating 25 years since the doors to the centre opened. Obviously this has all now changed and has had to be put on hold for the time being. Can you just imagine how many people have been supported in Widnes and Runcorn over the past 25 years? Since the doors got closed at the centre while we are in this pandemic we have had to change the ways in which we support but I am so glad to say that the support is still there whether through phone calls, texts, emails or social media. Our fundraising has dramatically changed over the past 6 weeks as have many other charities so I have decided to walk, jog, run 5km a day for the month of May to show my support to such a special place in my heart. Over the past 3 years I have been on both sides, a service user while going through breast cancer myself and now to be lucky and thrilled working at the centre giving back to others what I received years back. I understand times are very difficult but if you can support even the smallest amounts will make a huge difference.
