Great Western Locomotive is over 100 years old - it is currently being used as a training platform to help preserve heritage mechanical engineering skills (with the help of a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund). The volunteers undergoing the training and developing their own skills do need some additional help - the loco needs new tyres which have to be fitted by specialist contractors then machined on giant lathes - all very expensive!
Will you help?
Once the loco is fully restored, it will run on Heritage Railways and provide enjoyment for the thousands of passengers who love these living museums. The training and development will help ensure the skills needed to operate and maintain these machines are preserved for future generations
