In loving memory of their dear Mum, Betty Pettle

Betty Pettle passed away peacefully on 7th July 2021, after a very brief spell in hospital. Betty was delighted to have celebrated her 90th birthday a few months earlier in February 2021.

Betty specifically requested family flowers only but expressed the wish that any donations in her memory should be given to Education Saves Lives.

Education Saves Lives creates and distributes simple, interactive DVD and online lessons on health and other topics for living safely, so that families overseas can learn in their own language how to protect themselves from common diseases.

This is a local Leamington-based charity with which Betty had strong links as her eldest daughter Beverly used to work for the organisation. In her role Beverly was fortunate to make trips to Cambodia, Rwanda, South Africa and Uganda to deliver DVDs and investigate new links with grassroots partner organisations. Betty followed all of Bev’s trips with great interest and set about enthusiastically supporting the charity by making home-made greetings cards to sell at various coffee mornings and events to raise additional funds, as well as by making donations herself.

Education Saves Lives has sent hundreds of thousands of DVD lessons to many different countries to help more than 30 million people. The charity also has more than 1,500 registered users in 116 countries who have watched the lessons online.

Throughout her life Betty was always happy and willing to help others. It seems very fitting that donations in her memory will now continue to help perpetuate that will to help others.

We have been extremely fortunate to have known, learnt from and loved Betty and we will all miss her very much.
