Sara's Mid Life Marathon Challenge

Sara Armstrong is raising money for The Stable Family Home Trust

My story

I hit 50 recently and in the spirit of embracing and celebrating a new stage of life, I created a bucket list full of challenges and new experiences. One to take me right out of my comfort zone was training for and completing a marathon.
I started what feels like a mammoth task by joining a fitness community and committing to 20mins of exercise a day early this year which I've been building on.
It wasn't long before I really started to feel the benefits of a healthier lifestyle and the buzz of exercise. I also got to forge new connections albeit on line with like minded people around the world which has spurred me on. Despite a number of setbacks and injuries I am finally on the way to Loch Ness after what feels like an incredible journey!
I am raising funds for a charity I am really passionate about, the Stable Family Home Trust. They provide the most amazing care and purposeful activities for adults with learning disabilities in Hampshire. Covid has really set them back as services had to close or were limited, which has really isolated them socially and affected their quality of life.
I want to give the service users the gift of exercise by raising much needed funds to bring in Jenny and Rob of the Gym Tin to run outdoor exercise and training. The guys really enjoy the classes where they get to express themselves fully, have lots of fun and enhance their health and wellbeing. All so very necessary after this awful pandemic.
Please give as much as you can - no matter how small a contribution. Every penny helps these wonderful people feel good and get back to normal.

Taking part in the Loch Ness Marathon really was an incredible and exhilarating challenge which gave me a huge buzz. I've been really blown away by the support I've had both personally and for my chosen charity The Stable Family Home Trust.
The generosity of you all is amazing and my initial target of £300 has been quickly smashed!! I KNOW THE GUYS At The Stable Family Home Trust ARE SO GRATEFUL 🙏❤
Today I've heard that it's been 18months since the people who rely on The Stables have had face to face training and exercise sessions due to Covid.
I've decided to raise some more funds so that they can get that buzz every week and feel happy, fit and well over the coming months.
I'm inviting you to join me for a fun beach run/walk with friends from pier to pier (and back!) followed by a picnic and sea dip if you're feeling brave! It's on October 16th.

Come ready to run (or walk) at BOSCOMBE PIER for 10:30am.
We will then set off for Bournemouth Pier and return to Boscombe.

Bring contributions for a picnic and your togs for a sea paddle or a dip!!!

We need to stay hydrated so bring lots of water 💧

Celebratory bubbles are also welcome for afterwards! 🥂

Hope to see loads of you there 🥰
If you can't make it you can still help us reach our new target of £1,000 by donating or sharing my event, or why not take part virtually?

Thank you all 🥰

I'm so grateful for your support!! In waking up in Lancaster and the journey so far has included 3 hours stuck on the M6 at Stafford, coffee and biscuits with truckers on the hard shoulder, car Karaoke with guest singer and super star Bev and a night's sleep in a bed thanks to John's very kind sister Linda who is a carer for adults with disabilities.
The weather is atrocious and with 80% chance of rain on Sunday, my body is already saying noooooo!! What are you doing?!
I can't give up now!
