Walking the Yorkshire Three Peaks to raise money for Leeds N&W Foodbank. This is an almighty hike of 24 miles, traversing three significantly large peaks over the course of a 12 hour day.
100% of every donation goes directly to the Trussell Trust Leeds North and West Foodbank. The charity provides emergency food packages and valuable signposting services to people who need immediate help in times of crisis, and currently operates 9 centres throughout NW Leeds.
There are many people within our local communities who are living way below the poverty line and who, due to various circumstances, do not have enough money to buy food or toiletries.
The demographic of clients needing support at the foodbank ranges from families with children, to single men and women; from young people to the elderly. The foodbank is a safe space where kindness, cups of tea, signposting to support services and access to food parcels all converge. For those who need it, this support may be all they have to get through the week.
This is an organised charity hike that takes place on September 14th from 7am - 7pm. It starts from Horton-In-Ribblesdale and traverses Pen-Y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, which are together known as the 'Yorkshire Three Peaks'.
