Way of the Roses - Cycle 4 Albania

"The Way of the Roses" is a Coast to Coast (West to East) 170 mile Cycle Ride, from Morecambe (Lancashire - Red Rose) to Bridlington (Yorkshire - White Rose)

A team of 7 riders, starting in Morecambe on Friday 30th March and finishing in Bridlington on Monday 2nd April, are all attempting to raise funds for various projects in Albania. My personal target is £500. Each member is funding the cost of the trip themselves.

For many years Christ the Rock Christian Fellowship (the church I belong to) has been carrying out work in Albania. I have travelled there on 3 occasions and know the people who now live there.

The projects include working with kids on the streets, helping out in an orphanage, a safe house for women, an elderly peoples home and football camps for kids from different villages.

The money raised will be used to take the children in the orphanage swimming, they only go swimming once a year and for some of them it will be their first time in a pool. We need to buy football medals, balls and equipment for the football camp. We usually have up to 140 kids ranging from ages 7-16 years coming to play football. We can buy crafts and materials to run activities for the street kids and girls in the safe house. The money we raise will hopefully support these projects for a year until the team returns the next summer.

Friends of mine, Ian and Karen Bright, who have travelled to Albania with their 2 children for the past 7 years, have organised this fund raising event - "The Way of the Roses" Coast to Coast Cycle Ride

We kindly ask for your support in helping us raise money for this work in Albania, no matter how small. This work is making a massive difference to so many people's lives!

I can personally vouch that all the funds raised will go directly to the projects mentioned.
