Adam Topping, James Dean, Miriam Payne are raising money for DEBRA
In October 2025 a team from across the Peninsula Group will be joining DEBRA UK to tackle one of the world's most iconic mountains, Mount Kilimanjaro. This 10 day challenge will see us trekking for around 6-8 hours per day and battling the altitude on the mountain, testing our endurance and fitness as we climb up to reach the final goal - standing on the roof of Africa at the 5895m summit.
We've learned about the work DEBRA does to support those with EB through Peninsula Group's charity partnership. This will be a huge challenge, but it pales in comparison to the daily struggles faced by those living with EB. The pain they endure from something as simple as a touch or a rub of the skin is unimaginable. DEBRA provides essential care, research, and support to improve the quality of life for EB sufferers and their families, and we’re honoured to be supporting such an important cause.
All money raised by us will be match-funded by Peninsula Group, thereby doubling your donations. We have self-funded the trip to cover all costs, which means that every penny donated in sponsorship goes directly to the charity.

Having all reached the summit at different times, there is no photo of the three of us at Uhuru Peak. But this one as we reached the bottom of the mountain, having climbed for 6.5 days and walked down in 1.5 days, is one to treasure. Memories for a lifetime all in aid of a fantastic cause - thank you everyone for your support
🌍🏔️ We did it!!!
✨After months of training, fundraising, and anticipation, we are beyond proud (and still slightly in disbelief!) to say that we reached the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro – Uhuru Peak, 5,895 metres (19,341 ft) all in support of DEBRA UK and their incredible work supporting people living with Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB).
🏔️From lush rainforest to alpine desert and the icy summit, every step tested endurance, willpower, and teamwork. Every challenge was conquered not alone, but side by side, one team, one goal, one summit.
There were moments when the altitude hit hard — headaches, breathlessness, exhaustion but the cause, the camaraderie, and the view from Africa’s highest point made every step worth it. 🌄

Every pound raised helps DEBRA UK continue their mission to find treatments and ultimately a cure for EB.
One month today we will be starting our trek! We will take a 2 hour transfer from our hotel to Kilimanjaro National Park for registration and lunch then drive to Lemosho Gate, at 1,981m.
From here we start trekking through the first of five eco-systems on Mt Kilimanjaro, the rainforest layer. It's described as a short but tough day as we climb up to 2,800m for the first night's camp.
We'll be following the 8-day Lemosho route, one of the toughest but most rewarding treks — here are a few stats that put the challenge into perspective:

• 🚶♀️ Distance: around 70 km over 8 days
• ⏱️ Summit day: often 10–14 hours of trekking in a single push
• ❄️ Temperatures: ranging from +30°C to –25°C
