A Coffee For Wish

Raising for Border Collie Trust Great Britain

We were recently contacted by The Department of Veterinary Medicine at Cambridge University.

Wish, a three month old Border Collie had been relinquished to them and they were seeking support to treat her serious heart condition, a PDA, which is a congenital heart defect in dogs where a foetal blood vessel fails to close after birth, causing abnormal blood flow and potentially leading to heart failure.

An operation to resolve this serious and life threatening condition was possible and she stood a good chance of a normal life following surgery. The cost £4000 - £4500. Our Collie Care Fund, funded by supporters and especially adopters who take out insurance cover with Petplan was set up for situations exactly like this and we immediately agreed to help Wish.

The operation has been a success and not only has Wish been given a new lease of life but hopefully has already found a new home with someone from the University.

The costs of the operation have been covered but if you would like to donate the cost of a cup of coffee to our Collie Care Fund, helping collies in similar situations, we'd be very grateful

My collie Flo, had a PDA (I was a cardiology nurse at the time and adopted her) she lived a full and happy life after surgery. Only just lost her last year after having her ten years. I miss her so much. Xx
