Raising for Rape And Sexual Abuse Support Centre (Cheshire And Merseyside)
Event date:
RASASC is taking part in the Chester Business Club's Charity walk to raise funds for survivors of sexual abuse in Chester. We provide free counselling, advocacy, and wellbeing services to survivors of sexual violence across Cheshire and Merseyside.
RASASC has been a lifeline for survivors of sexual violence across Cheshire and Merseyside for over 30 years. Through our counselling, advocacy, and specialist services, we help survivors reclaim their lives, providing the support they need to heal and move forward.
Every year, more and more survivors turn to RASASC for support. In 2024, we supported 4000 survivors across Cheshire & Merseyside. Last year, our advocacy service alone cost over £400,000. We offer these vital services free of charge.
Please support us by sponsoring the walk; we can not do this alone. Your support would mean that we can continue to provide life-saving support for our service users.
Last year, we supported nearly 1,000 children under the age of 17. By walking with us, you’ll help raise awareness and give survivors the support they need to heal and rebuild their lives.
We know our work makes a difference, not just from statistics, but from what survivors have shared with us:
• “My counsellor has helped me to understand and accept my feelings and emotions. Helped me to feel more normal again and like myself. Helped me to process my emotions and realise that I can have more control.” – Male, aged 17
• A mum of a 6-year-old told us: “I can’t thank your counsellor enough for the support you have given my daughter. It has had such a massive improvement, not just for her but also for me. Knowing she's happy and has no worries means everything to me, she has loved having you to talk to.”
Our services are highly recommended by those who use them.
• 99% felt supported through the Criminal Justice System
• 95% felt better able to cope and build resilience to move forward with daily life following the support they received
Sexual violence affects more people than many realise:
1 in 4 women have been raped or sexually assaulted since the age of 16
1 in 6 children have experienced sexual abuse
1 in 18 men have been raped or sexually assaulted since the age of 16
These figures highlight the urgent need for the support and specialist services RASASC provides every day across Cheshire and Merseyside.

RASASC is a registered charity which was established in 1995 to provide advice, support and counselling to people who have been affected by sexual violence. We offer support to men, women, children and young people of any age. We have offices and community-based outreach centres throughout Cheshire and Merseyside.
The Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre aims to be a centre of excellence in the provision and delivery of services to individuals and families who have been affected by sexual violence.
We believe that sexual violence is a cause and consequence of gender inequality and work to feminist principals throughout our service delivery
