Raising for Compassion Acts
Southport Matters is a community initiative under the umbrella of Compassion Acts and in partnership with the Lloyds Bank Foundation and the office of Patrick Hurley MP
Back in 2025 local residents raised the fact that the bandstand on Lord Street was under used and a precious but wasted resource.
Since then the wonderful volunteers from Lord Street in Bloom have done wonderful work to improve the raised beds and other features.
It will cost over £1300 to put this event on, due to insurance, tech desk etc - but we are passionate about keeping it FREE for all on the day.
So if you share in the desire to open up the Lord Street Band Stand to more community music events, perhaps you could chip in a few pounds?
Maybe you are a Sandgrounder who now lives away from the town but thinks this is a great idea....or maybe you cannot make it down on either Sunday but want to 'pay it forward' and support the event for others.
Should we exceed our target, any surplus funds after the Bandstand event will be shared only between other Southport Matters community projects:

We are a local charity working to reduce poverty and increase social wellbeing in Southport and surrounding areas. We support people facing financial hardship in a range of ways including Southport foodbank, Food Pantries, benefits and debt advice. We aim to 'go upstream' to address the root causes of poverty and to support people holistically because poverty is complex and not always financial..
We have our latest strategy to support 'Thriving lives for all, in strengthened communities'
We are passionate about vibrant, growing and cohesive communities across North Sefton and West Lancashire. We do this by bringing people together to collaborate, to volunteer and to speak up for a better future.
