Raising for Migrateful
Refugee Week (15-21 June) is a global festival that celebrates the contributions, creativity and resilience of refugees, and people seeking sanctuary, and this year we'd love to invite organisations in our community to be a part of it.
We're aiming to raise £5,000 this Refugee Week to support our chef training programme, which takes passionate refugee and migrant cooks on a pathway towards employment and integration in the UK.
Why it matters
Refugees and migrants face significant barriers to employment in the UK, despite bringing valuable skills, experience and ambition. These include language challenges, unrecognised qualifications, limited professional networks, lack of UK work experience or complex legal restrictions that can limit or delay access to work. As a result, many are unable to fully utilise their skills and may struggle to access opportunities and build financial resilience.
Migrateful’s two-year chef training programme is designed to help address these barriers by providing structured training, mentoring and work experience. This holistic approach builds confidence, language and employability skills and access to employment opportunities. Through our classes, chefs share their traditional cuisines and personal stories with the public, helping break down barriers and shift perceptions about migration while building community connections.
Every pound you help us raise goes directly towards training more chefs, bringing communities together and opening more doors for refugee and asylum-seeking cooks in the UK.

Migrateful is a UK charity that transforms lives through the universal language of food. Every pound donated goes directly towards training refugee, asylum seeker and migrant home cooks to become professional cookery class teachers, equipping them with employable skills, confidence and financial resilience they need to thrive in the UK.
Through our classes, chefs share their traditional cuisines and personal stories with the public, helping break down barriers and shift perceptions about migration while building community connection.
