Drysuit Appeal

Raising for Pett Level Independent Rescue Boat

We urgently need to replace three drysuits that have been removed from service as they are no longer fit for purpose.

With a growing volunteer base it is imperative that they are kept safe and secure when on service and training.

We have had to retire three drysuits that are old and can not be repaired.

Each drysuit costs around £700.

Please help us keep our crew dry and protected.

About us

Pett Level Independent Rescue Boat

Charity number: 286891

We are an independent lifeboat based in Pett Level, East Sussex, serving the community between Camber and Hastings. With a 55-year history, our mission is the preservation of life at sea and on inland waters. We train, operate and launch for service in exactly the same way as the RNLI but, like all independent lifeboats, we are entirely self-funded and self-managed.

We operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and everyone is a volunteer.

We are tasked by UK Coastguard and work in cooperation with local RNLI stations and all other emergency services. We are tasked 30+ times a year, in addition to local calls for first aid and other community services. We often cover for our neighbouring RNLI stations in Rye and Hastings when they do not have the personnel to respond to taskings.

We operate two rescue boats, a 5.4 metre Zodiac MilPro RIB and a 3.4 metre Arancia Surf RIB. These assets allow us to get in close to the cliffs – essential for our area.

Our taskings range from towing casualty vessels, locating and rescuing casualties on the cliffs or cut off by the tide, searching for missing children or vulnerable people and many other types of incidents.
