About us

Hastings Voluntary Lifeguards objectives are the prevention and reduction of loss of life by drowning.
The Club provides qualified Lifeguards at open water events in the Hastings and surrounding areas - these include sea swims, triathlons, air displays, rowing regattas, pier events to name just a few. Provision includes rescue and safety boat cover as well as first aid.
In addition we provide education in water safety, lifesaving and lifeguard techniques to all ages. Members can join from 8 years old with no upper age limit. Hadley's Hastings Half Marathon - Sunday 26th March 2023

From Hadley
“It’s been over a decade since I last ran (or at least jogged) the Hastings Half Marathon event. I thought I would put some trainers back on and get out there but this time raise some awareness of the clubs' work within the town.

I’ve been able to support the club in a number of ways from helping out the Rookies on an occasional Friday night, beach safety cover for open water events or National Vocational Beach Lifeguard Qualification courses as well as committee meetings.

Please help me raise some funds to support the young people who use this club to learn life long skills by donating on this page.

I’ll also be looking for all your motivational cheers (which I will need) along the course as I wear my red and yellows.”

This is what Hadley said after he completed the Hastings Half Marathon -
Well if it’s not on strava, It didn’t happen. I can tell you now that it’s on strava and here, so I must have done it. After more than 10 years away from doing this event I set a personal best. 1Hr49.26 (unofficially). 😀
Thanks for all the cheering along the way and those that have supported. Well done to all those who took part.
We're really grateful to Hadley for all his efforts for Hastings Voluntary Lifeguards, to everyone who supported Hadley - both today en route and those who donated - thank you

So Hadley's last big training session before Saturday's Hastings Half Marathon was, yes you guessed, in the wind and rain.
I really hope that after the clocks go forward tomorrow night, so lossing an hours less sleep, that the weather is kind to Hadley and everyone else.
Please cheer Hadley on, he'll be wearing the red / yellow club t-shirt. If you can afford to donate he and the Club would be very grateful and every penny goes to keeping the club going - thank you.

When we posted this Hadley only had 8 days left to train before the Hastings Half Marathon so he had no option but brave the horrible weather even at night between his paramedic shifts.
Well, now there's only 5 days before the Hastings Half Marathon and Hadley is still running in the wind and rain - the weather really isn't being kind to him but he's very determined.
Please support Hadley, please come and cheer him on Sunday. All donations are really appreciated by Hadley the Club. Thank you very much.
