This winter, thousands of people will face the devastating reality of fuel poverty. With rising energy costs and the removal of vital fuel allowances, many households in Flintshire and beyond are left with an impossible choice: heat their homes or put food on the table. Cold homes are not just uncomfortable—they’re dangerous. For the elderly and vulnerable, they can lead to worsening health conditions, hospital admissions, and even loss of life.
That’s why we’ve launched Help 4 Heating, a groundbreaking initiative dedicated to tackling fuel poverty by providing free boiler repairs to those who need it most.

A Local Pilot with Big Ambitions

We are starting this journey with a pilot programme in Flintshire, working to support our local community while developing a model that can grow across the UK. By testing our approach in this initial phase, we’ll ensure that our campaign is both effective and sustainable. Once we determine its viability, we will expand the programme to reach even more people in need.

The Reality of Fuel Poverty

• Over 4.5 million households in the UK are in fuel poverty.
• The elderly and vulnerable are disproportionately affected, with cold homes linked to over 10,000 winter deaths annually.
• For every £1 spent on heating, fuel-poor homes often lose more than £0.40 due to inefficient systems.

Help 4 Heating is here to make a difference by addressing these issues head-on.

• CAFgas CIC: As the lead organisation, CAFgas CIC will oversee the campaign, manage repairs, and coordinate logistics. With years of experience supporting vulnerable communities, we are committed to ensuring every repair is carried out with professionalism and accountability.
• Warm Wales: As experts in supporting vulnerable households, Warm Wales will play a critical role in identifying and qualifying those in need, ensuring that help reaches the right people in Wales.
• Deeside Round Table: Our key fundraising partner, organising events and mobilising their network to generate vital funds for this life-saving initiative.
• Bear Recruitment: They will manage the onboarding and vetting of qualified gas engineers across the UK, ensuring every engineer is fully accredited, trustworthy, and ready to deliver high-quality repairs.
• Coleg Cambria: Taking a creative approach, Cambria College is producing how-to videos designed to help households reduce energy consumption, maintain their heating systems, and save on costly call-outs.
• Picture House films: Have generously donated and generated or launch video.

Transparency is at the heart of Help 4 Heating. Every penny raised will be tracked, with regular financial reports shared publicly to show how funds are being spent. Repairs will be documented with innovative storytelling focused on the boilers themselves, ensuring that no vulnerable individual’s privacy is compromised while highlighting the impact of the campaign.
