About us
We have been teaching Transcendental Meditation (TM) in Great Britain for nearly sixty years. Founded by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, TM is a simple, natural procedure practised for 15 to 20 minutes in the morning and evening, while sitting comfortably with eyes closed. It can be learned easily by anyone.
During TM one’s awareness settles down to experience a state of restful alertness. As the mind transcends mental activity to experience the simplest form of human awareness – Transcendental Consciousness – one’s body becomes deeply relaxed.
Scientific research has shown that regular practice brings a wide range of benefits including decreased anxiety and depression, improved memory and clearer thinking, reduced high blood pressure, decreased illness and more harmonious relationships.
The UK has over 120 certified Teachers of Transcendental Meditation. We are passionate about making TM widely available – most especially in these days of rising anxiety, an affliction which is addressed so effectively by TM.
Maharishi Foundation Financial Appeal 2023
We were very grateful for the generosity of so many well-wishers who helped us in 2020 and 2021. These donations helped us through the pandemic years and enabled the charity to continue its valuable work.
We hoped that income from teaching Transcendental Meditation and its advanced programmes would have recovered from the marked decrease during the Covid years. But recovery has been slower than expected, and there is still great pressure on Maharishi Foundation's finances. So, we need to appeal for your kind support once more. We estimate Maharishi Foundation needs £50,000 to continue operating effectively, as our resources are very low.
We are passionate about teaching Transcendental Meditation to as many people as possible. Maharishi's knowledge is needed more than ever, and we appeal to your generosity to help. Please support with a hearty donation towards our £50,000 target, so we can continue to make this precious knowledge widely available.
