Worthy cause. Hopefully this helps in some way
At the beginning of March 2009 we were just a normal family of 4 enjoying life and navigating day to day challenges of having 2 young boys, and running our own business. Overnight that changed when Daniel aged 23 months became seriously ill and within 24 hours of the first signs of him being unwell had lost his fight for life to septicaemia.
Our world fell apart and we were just left numb and shocked having to comprehend how things can change so quickly without warning. In supporting Daniels brother (who was 5 at the time) we started to make a memory box to keep special pictures and items safe. Over the years it has brought so much comfort to all the family and is revisited regularly remembering Daniel, the times we had together and what a special little brother he was.
We now feel passionately about the value such a simple item can bring to a bereaved family and how these memory boxes can become a focus and support on the long and rocky road of grief families encounter. The simple drive to be able provide boxes to other bereaved families led to the establishment of The Daniel Estick Trust.
The Trust began by providing it’s handmade memory boxes to health professionals, hospices and bereavement charities, local to Daniels home to in Milton Keynes. However, over the years the trust has expanded and now provides boxes to organisations and health professionals across the UK who support bereaved families.
We are proud of what we have achieved, it has been a very personal journey for Daniels family, working thought the charity has enriched our lives forever, meeting and working with amazing support teams, hospices and charities all with the same passion to support bereaved families meaning Daniel through his trust is very much part of our daily lives.
We truly believe that Memories are a gift to treasure and when opportunities to make memories with loved ones are lost through a bereavement it is essential that the memories already created have a special place in our lives.
Donations to the Trust will enable us to continue to support bereavement support professionals across the UK
