Send Aid to Myanmar
You've probably heard about it by now: on Friday 28 March, a 7.7 magnitude earthquake rocked the heart of Myanmar, bringing unspeakable devastation to the nation and nearby region.
It is estimated that around 4,000 people have lost their lives. Thousands more are missing, injured or have had their homes destroyed. Damage to infrastructure and hospitals, electricity blackouts and Myanmar's ongoing civil war are making it very challenging to get help to those in need.
Thankfully, we've been able to make contact with all our local staff and most of our students, and so far all are safe (though the homes of some were destroyed).
Now, our DAI Myanmar team, students and partners are preparing to head into some of the worst-hit areas, some of which have not received any aid so far. They plan to bring desperately needed food and supplies, and help with search and rescue operations.
However, to do this, they need your help. Would you partner with our team by providing for some of these urgent needs?
- Water filters, as there is no clean drinking water in many places
- Emergency food provisions
- Small generators, since many areas have no or very little electricity
- Temporary shelters and mosquito nets for those left without homes, as well as mats for the injured waiting for medical care in the open air
