Our deepest thanks to those of you who've given to DAI's relief response to Nepal's devastating flash flood! Because of your quick response, we've been able to immediately send funds to our partners delivering aid in the crisis zone.
A close partner of DAI's and director of a Christian Nepali relief organisation have been hard at work delivering relief supplies. They had trucks on the road days after the flood, and have just completed their second distribution.
They met families along the roadside who'd hiked in from inaccessible villages, begging, "Please just give us salt. It takes a whole day to come here. We lost our families, and survival is becoming unbearable.” One mother told the heartbreaking story of watching her six-year-old daughter washed away on a school bus before her very eyes.
Altogether, the organisation was able to provide food, cooking utensils, clothing, water filters, beds, and blankets for nearly 800 families, according to their need. The next stage of their response will include setting up health camps (in coordination with local medical providers) and providing temporary shelters.
We're so grateful for all that's already been given. And yet, much more is needed. Your gifts will help families survive the next couple of months and begin to rebuild their lives physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
