Light House Outdoors

Event dates: Sunday 10th October 2021 – Friday 31st December 2021

We would like to create a relaxing outdoor space for clients and counsellors.

We want to install a 'Summer House' for all seasons. We want to make our outdoor area a beautiful calming space.

With the help of some wonderful volunteers, we have discovered a potential garden amongst the weeds we had been successfully growing. We would love to turn this area into an inviting space, a space that can be used for a counselling session or a space for one of our fantastic counsellors to take a few minutes break with a cup of tea.

Being outside and in more natural surroundings, can reduce stress, depression and anxiety. Some people prefer to avoid the constraints of being in a ‘typical’ counselling room environment. This new space will feel less claustrophobic for those who may struggle being 'inside'.

The doors can be closed or opened up to the sounds and sights of the seasons and what we hope will be lovely green space. Being outside and in nature, can help to release the body’s natural endorphins and perhaps enable freedom to be more openly expressive.

Whilst this may not suit everyone; it offers options for those who may feel too uncomfortable in a counselling room, whilst still having a more personal contact, perhaps not felt from online or telephone.

If the new outdoor space is ever available, in those moments between appointments, our counsellors may get chance to sit, breathe and unwind themselves.
