Go Pete! And no ladders over the shoulder not even inflatable ones.
Raising for Concordis
A personal post, if you’ll indulge.
Last year I had a nasty little accident, which caused me a significant sojourn in the major trauma unit of St George’s hospital, with a broken pelvis and eight ribs similarly rearranged.
I find I respond well to a big challenge (more on the big challenges in peacebuilding anon), so I set myself a strong goal, to power me through the slightly uncomfortable recovery process.
A triathlon seemed too stereotypical, so why not throw a mountain into the mix?
I’m planning to join some dear friends in attempting the ROC Scotland, with a chilly swim in Loch Kinlochleven, a punchy bike ride through the Highlands, a run up Ben Nevis, then a run and cycle back to the finish. That’s 1,000 meters in the water, 52km on the bike and 16.5km up and over the Ben. Oh, and a 1,500m run on jelly legs to the finish, to entertain the crowds.
It’ll be a bit of a challenge, with my pelvis held together by titanium hardware, but I actually can’t wait.
The important bit is that I'm doing this to raise some money for a much more challenging goal; Concordis’ work for peace.
I feel very fortunate that I’m still able to walk, let alone contemplate this. It's an even greater privilege to be leading an extraordinary team, supporting 1,150 local peacebuilders across five countries in a quiet but powerfully impactful work.
Concordis has been nominated for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize, and in the link is a wee video, explaining a bit of what we do and why we do it.
Thanks SO much for your support - all of this means a lot.
Go well.
Peter

Your level of sophistication about the process, and your ability to frame the issues in such a productive way, are truly outstanding." - Melanie Greenberg, Expert on Conflict Resolution and CEO of the Alliance for Peacebuilding

Putting my money where my mouth is.
Good luck Pete! Sounds like it's been a tough year. Glad to hear you're recovering ok
Hugely impressive if slightly mad. Good luck
Go Peter!! Good luck with this crazy challenge.
Unstoppable! Hope you're recovering well
Best of luck, you crazy man. I broke ribs years ago and the last thing I could have imagined was anything more physical than getting in and out of a bath. You certainly don’t have many limitations.
Brilliant work! Enjoy the Tri!
Go well, Peter!
