Richard’s Hedge: A Living Legacy to Honour Richard Lloyd MBE 🌳

Raising for CPRE Gloucestershire

To honour the memory of one of our Vice Chairs, Richard Lloyd MBE, CPRE Gloucestershire are creating a memorial hedgerow in 2026; a long-lasting gift to the countryside Richard spent his life championing and protecting.

This legacy hedge will grow and flourish for decades, providing vital habitat for wildlife and strengthening biodiversity across our countryside. It reflects everything Richard stood for: caring for our countryside, restoring nature, and leaving the environment in a better place for the future.

We are honoured to plant this hedgerow at Sapperton Wilder, a remarkable regenerative farming and nature recovery project in the heart of Gloucestershire, and a recent CPRE Gloucestershire Award recipient. As Richard led on our Awards Scheme, Sapperton Wilder is the perfect place for this tribute; a site that embodies his values, his passion, and his belief in the power of grassroots conservation in the heart of Gloucestershire.

How You Can Support ‘Richard’s Hedge’

Your donation will directly support the planting and long-term establishment of this memorial hedgerow. Funds will help us purchase a mixed native hedge, along with the whips, spirals, canes, tools, and protective materials needed to ensure each plant in this memorial hedge takes root and thrives.
With your help, this hedgerow will grow into a rich and resilient habitat:

  • Nurturing birds, insects, and small mammals
  • Supporting natural flood management
  • Contributing to climate resilience
  • Enhancing one of Gloucestershire’s most inspiring rewilding sites

It will stand as a lasting legacy to Richard Lloyd; a place where his love for the countryside continues to grow, year after year. We hope you’ll join CPRE Gloucestershire in supporting this meaningful tribute and help us continue protecting our countryside in Richard’s memory.
