Raising for ECO STEM AFRICA
Event dates: –
Tanzania has made significant strides in increasing school enrollment—net primary enrollment reached 88%, and secondary enrollment rose from 24.7% to 39.0% between 2015 and 2021 (1). However, quality is lagging: only 32–35% of lower secondary education is completed, and learning outcomes remain critically low.
STEM subjects are particularly weak: in the 2024 Form Two exams, failure rates were alarmingly high—Basic Mathematics at 81%, Chemistry at 66%, and Physics over 50%. Moreover, educators often lack practical equipment and training; most schools employ outdated, theory-heavy methods that result in low critical thinking and problem-solving skills among students.
Despite supportive national policies—including curriculum reform and scholarship programmes—the lack of functional practical labs remains a bottleneck. In 2023, UNOPS delivered labs to secondary schools in Zanzibar, highlighting the impact such investments can have when scaled.
ECO STEM AFRICA has therefore recognised an opportunity to support STEM education in Tanzania by:
Project Objectives
Don't forget you can donate any amount as low as £2 (N4, 000, $2.67 CAD$3.67, EUROS 2.31). No amount is too small to make a difference!!
What will your donation achieve?
£10 could provide essential STEM learning materials like test tubes, beakers, or measuring cylinders for a classroom in rural Tanzania.
£25 (N can train one science teacher on how to effectively use lab equipment, equipping them to inspire hundreds of students with real-world STEM knowledge.
£100 helps us ship and set up a fully functional science workstation for a school, opening up opportunities for practical experiments and interactive learning.

ECO STEM AFRICA (ESA) is a UK-based Charity Organization dedicated to promoting quality education in Africa while simultaneously addressing the ever-increasing global issue of electronic waste (e-waste).
We enhance STEM education in Africa by promoting STEM learning in secondary schools and universities, providing essential scientific equipment, training, and capacity development to institutions, teachers, and students who lack access to these resources, and offering support to African students pursuing STEM studies to help them reach their full academic and professional potential.
Through collaboration with international industries, universities, institutions, and agencies, we have received significant donations of both outdated and sustainable scientific equipment to support African schools, including secondary schools and universities.
