Supporting people in Herefordshire seeking asylum

The UK is home to just 1% of the 27 million refugees who have been forcibly displaced worldwide. These people do not choose to be refugees: those seeking asylum are looking for a place of safety.

These people do not come to our country to claim benefits.
While they wait to hear whether the Home Office will grant them refugee status, they have very little. Many are unable to pay for basics such as clothing and toiletries, as they are only eligible for a £9/week allowance.

We want to help those individuals currently in Herefordshire seeking asylum. Often they arrive here wearing only what they stand up in. We want to give each person the opportunity to buy some essential clothes, offering a little dignity in their difficult situation.

Please help the Diocese of Hereford and the Mothers' Union to do this by giving what you can to support this appeal. Your kindness and generosity will be appreciated.

Thank you!
