The Crypt Sports Foundation has a clear mission: to enhance sporting opportunities for all students.
Every young person deserves the opportunity to discover the confidence, resilience and teamwork that sport develops. At The Crypt School, we are committed to providing that opportunity for every student. Through the Sports Foundation, we already work with businesses and community partners to make this possible, extending opportunities beyond what school budgets alone can provide.
In the 26/27 academic year, the Sports Foundation has committed to building more sustainable partnerships with organisations and individuals keen to support the ongoing evolution of our school's PE and sports offering.
By joining our Sports Foundation Partners Programme, you will be investing directly in the health, wellbeing and future aspirations of hundreds of young people. Your support will help remove barriers to participation, encourage lifelong healthy habits and create opportunities that many students would otherwise never experience. It is a tangible way to demonstrate your commitment to social responsibility, community wellbeing and investment in the next generation.
As a Partner, you will;
- demonstrate your commitment to supporting young people and improving community wellbeing;
- align yourself/your organisation with one of Gloucestershire's leading schools;
- receive recognition across school publications, events, digital channels and our website (where appropriate);
- be invited to school sporting events and networking opportunities;
- help shape opportunities that prepare young people for future careers;
- engage with students through careers talks, mentoring, work experience or apprenticeship opportunities, where appropriate;
- have an annual sports award in your name
- ·receive updates showing the impact your support has made.
Impact:
You will be able to demonstrate that your investment in the school has increased access to sport; promoted physical & mental well-being; supported inclusion by ensuring opportunities are available regardless of financial circumstances; and helped strengthen links between education, local employers & the wider community.
Join Us
We are seeking just 15 organisations to become our inaugural Sports Foundation Partners, each committing a recommended annual partnership contribution of £1,000. Together, these partnerships will create a sustainable funding base that enables us to invest confidently in sporting opportunities year after year.
A single £1,000 partnership could, for example, fund access to Blackbridge Sports Centre's 5G pitches throughout the winter months, ensuring our students continue to train and compete when our own fields become unplayable.
We hope that our partners will choose to support the Foundation year after year, helping us to build a sustainable future for school sport. However, there is no obligation to renew your support, and every contribution—whether for one year or many, at any level—is genuinely valued and makes a lasting difference.

About us
The Crypt School
Founded in 1539, The Crypt School is one of the oldest schools in the country. Now on its fourth site at Podsmead, the school’s work and ethos are still informed by the vision of its founders, John and Joan Cooke: to provide a free, grammar school education to bright children, regardless of their background.
The school's last two OFSTED ratings have been OUTSTANDING, with the 2024 report stating: "Pupils receive an exceptional quality of education and benefit from a rich offer to develop their talents and interests. They consistently meet the school’s high expectations for their academic achievement and broader development. The school motto is, ‘flourish Cryptians,’ and pupils do."
The reality, however, is that despite its continuing success, The Crypt is not, and never has been, a wealthy school, and we are frequently vulnerable to fluctuations in government funding. Despite being an outstanding school and offering an education that outperforms many neighbouring schools, both state and independent, we operate under significant budgetary restrictions.
Over the past decade, there have been significant improvements to the school estate. However, there is still much work ahead. We are committed to our ambitious plans for further estate developments to establish an environment that sets the standard for 21st-century teaching, learning and student personal development and wellbeing.
