Karen Vaughan is one of the remarkable volunteers supported by Greek Animal Rescue on the beautiful island of Thassos in northern Greece.

Every day, she feeds and cares for stray cats, funds their veterinary treatment, and works tirelessly to have them neutered so that, one day, there will be fewer unwanted animals living on the streets.

Last week, while carrying out that simple act of kindness, Karen was confronted by an aggressive individual who intimidated her and threw away the food she had brought for the cats.

The incident was so frightening that the cats went hungry that night.

Sadly, Karen's experience is not unique. Across Greece, many dedicated rescuers face intimidation, abuse and harassment simply for caring for animals that have nobody else to protect them. Despite this, they continue to show up every single day because the animals still need them.

We refuse to let intimidation win.

Every donation to this appeal will help Karen replace the food that was lost, continue feeding the stray cats in her care and, if we exceed our target, provide even more food than before. Because compassion should always be louder than cruelty.
