About us
The Uphill Trust supports grass roots education in rural western Uganda: Uphill Junior School, a privately-owned primary school with kindergarten, was founded by a Ugandan teacher in February 2011 and provides educational opportunities for girls, orphans and children from poor rural families.
We are helping the school to build well equipped school buildings, maintain a motivated and well-qualified teaching staff, provide clean water and good sanitation, and support the education of girls and orphans.
When funding is available we also support projects that benefit the wider community, such as provision of mosquito nets, solar lanterns and reading glasses for the community elders.
The Uphill Trust is a zero-overheads charity - 100% of the money you donate is used to support Uphill Junior School.

Help Keep a Teacher at Uphill
Good teachers inspire children to fulfil their potential and achieve important national qualifications.
The Uphill teachers are a dedicated team who work from 8am to 5pm on weekdays, and during the evening and weekends when children need extra tuition. To further their skills, many of them take additional courses in the school holidays.
Qualified teachers at Uphill Junior School are are currently paid around £75 per month and we need to raise their salaries every year to stay in line with Government pay recommendations. We pay the salaries for 15 members of staff - it's our biggest monthly commitment - and we anticipate this will soon cost us around £1,700 per month! That's a lot of money to find!
A regular monthly donation, of whatever you can afford, will make a huge difference to our ability to provide the teaching staff that the children need! If everyone helps a little, it soon adds up!
