About us
Wales Deaf Rugby Union is a charity that gives opportunities to all deaf and hard-of-hearing people of all ages, who wish to partake in rugby football without hindrance.
Although affiliated with the WRU and home to the National Deaf Team, the charity receives no funding from the WRU itself, and relies on donations from the public and sponsorship from businesses to deliver its purpose.

Wales Deaf Rugby Union Community Project
The WDRU Community Project is designed to do more than teach passing drills or improve fitness. It's about creating a space where deaf and hard-of-hearing young people can feel seen, supported, and inspired to play the game they love - on their terms.
Our first event was held in April 2025, and brought together over 30 children aged between 5 to 16 from across the country. A young boy who, after attending the session, finally had the confidence to wear his hearing aid to school for the first time.
That's what project rugby can do. That's what this project is about.
